Accounting Manager | US GAAP, Multi-Client Accounting & Financial Operations

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing U.S.-based accounting and advisory firm founded by professionals with backgrounds in private equity and investment banking.
This is a high-ownership role for an accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys working directly with business owners, and has experience managing accounting operations across multiple U.S.-based clients simultaneously.
You'll play a key role in overseeing month-end close processes, payroll, financial reporting, sales tax compliance, process improvement initiatives, and strategic financial support for a portfolio of clients.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently advise business owners on financial performance and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Own and execute month-end close processes across multiple client accounts.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting workpapers.
- Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Payroll & Compliance
- Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Manage employee onboarding within payroll systems.
- Prepare and file U.S. state sales tax returns accurately and on time.
Reporting & Business Support
- Develop custom financial reports and dashboards for business owners.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Present financial insights and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
Process Improvement
- Review and document accounting workflows and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and internal controls.
- Help standardize processes across multiple client engagements.
Client Management
- Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business owners.
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Build strong client relationships through responsiveness, accuracy, and proactive support.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 5–10 years of accounting and finance experience.
- Strong experience supporting multiple U.S.-based clients simultaneously.
- Experience working with U.S. GAAP.
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting functions.
- Proven experience with month-end close, payroll, financial reporting, and sales tax compliance.
Technical Skills
- Advanced QuickBooks Online experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise.
- Experience with Bill.com, Ramp, or similar AP automation tools.
- Experience with payroll platforms such as Gusto, ADP, or Paylocity.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- XLOOKUP
- INDEX/MATCH
- Financial reporting and analysis
Communication & Leadership
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to confidently explain accounting concepts to business owners and leadership teams.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
